Does donating blood platelets reduce ones suseptability of forming blood clots? It is great that donating platelets benifits others. However, it must also remove platelets from the inner artery walls where they can become too numerous if the blood stays saturated with them over time. When one donates, an anti coagulant is used to stop them from clogging the tube used to cycle the blood around. Don't that also strip platelets from the inner walls of the blood vessels as well?
This is a win win deal the way I look at it.
