There are many options for back pain. In a major U.K. study they found the Alexander Technique more effective than either chiropractic care or standard mainstream medical therapy. Personally I've found osteopathy very effective for my two bulging disks. Rolfing might help get your back into functional orientation too. There's also Naprapathy, Feldenkrais Method, Hellerwork and many other therapies available ... what will work for you will depend on your unique situation. The good news is there is lots of hope!
There are several free podcasts on some of these therapies available at www.unbreakyourhealth.com/podcasts.htm
Good luck.
