I was just diagnosed with unbillical hernia last week by my primary doctor. He says that it needs to be repaired with surgery. I see the surgeon on Thursday of this week with no idea of what is to come. I was hoping that someone out there in this group or from any other group knows about this and can give any suggestions. I am a massage therapist and I feel doomed that I will not be able to continue my practice of almost 9 years. I have also been going to physical therapy in order to strengthen my knees which are bone on bone. I feel the PT has helped greatly strengthening my quads and adductors to take the strain off my my knee joints. I dont know if perhaps I was working too hard, not being patient enough. I had also been trying to loose some weight at same time as well by excercising but with lots of pain because of my knees but i was determined to loose some pounds so my knees didnt have to work so hard trying to support me.
Well, now, the doc tells me to just take it easy until we figure out what to do as far as surgery goes. I am still working a bit, but being careful and not having any pain doing so. I do pray that someone can give me some positive information for myself and perhaps for others who are in the same boat.
