Are you by any chance on a blood pressure med called lisinopril (Zestril or Prinivil). It has a side effect that causes a tickle or dry cough. If you are on such a med, google: Zestril cough. It will tell you all about it. Hope you get to the bottom of this; I had such a thing going on which was causing me lost sleep etc then, discovered this little bit of info; stopped taking the med and it gradually went away.
Good luck to you.

Hah! Then I went to an ENT, who checked out my throat and repeated the same response. My cough has now escalated to coughing about every twenty minutes, constant irritation at the back of my throat and the cough is getting deeper, like honking. Help me!
