Hi Denise and others,
Zinc is often associated with taste and smell, but a better indication is
white spots on the fingernails/toenails. If you have any, it is sure sign
of zinc deficiency. Women tend to go high in copper and low in zinc at the
start of a menstrual period, and sometimes, they can show white lines
horizontal on the nails. (B6, and zinc solves PMS for many.)
How much to take is like "how high is up? Generally, 15 to 30 mg a day is
sufficient. Be sure that the ratio of zinc to copper is at least 15 to 1 in
any minral tests. A very high copper to zinc ratio is sometimes a genetic
disease called Wilson Syndrome, and I have seen several cases of
schizophrenia caused by this.
Thanks for the FDR quote, and the question. I will probably be using zinc
usage in my next newsletter this Saturday. It's free to all. Check out my
website.
