I need a crown for a cracked molar. My dentist recommended a Zirconia crown. The Zirconia crown is $600 more than the porcelain fused to high noble metal under my insurance. Is Zirconia as good as my dentist claims and how much better is Zirconia than porcelain fused to high noble metal? Is my dentist just trying to get more money out of me? My dentist also recommends that I get Arestin treatment because many of my pockets are 4-5mm and a few are 6mm. My gums do not bleed, and another dentist told me that because my gums are healthy to not worry about the deeper than average pockets. But my current dentist told me that deep pockets mean unhealthy gums. Do you recommend Arestin treatment for my case and is Arestin a health hazard in any way? My dentist also recommends periodontal scaling and root planing for all four quadrants. Is that excessive except for extreme cases? I have not had a cleaning in many years, but my dentist said my dental hygiene is very good. Thanks for any replies.
