Personally, I would get a zirconia crown -- esp. since it's only $600 more for you. For one thing, you may be sensitive to titanium and not know it yet. I developed a sensitivity to titanium a few years ago, apparently. Had been wearing a titanium watch for several years, and one summer, got a rash under it every time I wore it. Now I think I'd better completely avoid anything titanium... (that's what most crowns are put on with). It appears that far fewer people have problems with zirconia.
I also would start "oil-pulling" for the gum problems. Swish sesame / coconut / whatever oil through your teeth for 15 minutes, spit out, and drink a big glass of water to help flush those toxins out of your body. I've never had gum problems, but have read many, many people's success stories with this.
And oil-pulling seems to be what keeps these various cracks and holes in my teeth from getting any worse. I got several long narrow holes along the gum line of my bottom molars (dentist says nobody knows what causes them; I think it may have been from a calcium-deficient time in my life - ???). The last one, he went to fill it, and it was enameled over, inside the hole! He acted a little bit surprised, but didn't ask what I had been doing, and I didn't have sense enough to ask him more about it, how unusual that was. He just cleaned it and filled it, no drilling. But then either that filling fell out a couple months later, or the hole extended, or something...

Is Zirconia as good as my dentist claims and how much better is Zirconia than porcelain fused to high noble metal? Is my dentist just trying to get more money out of me? My dentist also recommends that I get Arestin treatment because many of my pockets are 4-5mm and a few are 6mm. My gums do not bleed, and another dentist told me that because my gums are healthy to not worry about the deeper than average pockets. But my current dentist told me that deep pockets mean unhealthy gums. Do you recommend Arestin treatment for my case and is Arestin a health hazard in any way? My dentist also recommends periodontal scaling and root planing for all four quadrants. Is that excessive except for extreme cases? I have not had a cleaning in many years, but my dentist said my dental hygiene is very good. Thanks for any replies.
