The Anise plant or otherwise known as the star anise and botanically
called as Pimpinella Anisum, originated from Egypt, Mediterraninan
countries and now it is grown and found in Central America, Asia and in

The Star Anise plant seeds are sweet, delicate with aromatic liquorice
flavor, due to the presence of phytochemical substance, anethol. The
nutritional profie of Anise plant comprises of Vitamins such as folates,
thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pyridoxine, pantothenic acid, Vitamin C,
Vitamin A, and minerals like potassium, sodium, selenium, magnesium,
manganese, phosphorous, zinc, iron, copper, calcium, and consists of
proteins, carbohydrates, fats, dietary fiber with zero cholesterol and
gives as much as 340 caloires of energy per 100 grams of plant extract.

Anise medicinal benefits include; the seeds of anise posses anti oxidant
properties that promotes general health and prevents various disorders.
The active ingredients such as anethole present in the volatile oil of
seeds of anise flowers, in addition to these, the other phytochemicals
are limonene, camphene, transantethol, acetoanisol, safrol, linalool,
beta-pinene, estragol, acetophenone, p-anisaldehyde also found, which
prevent many health disorders. Anise seed oil is extracted from the
seeds posses anti spasmodic, antiseptic, stomachic, carminative,
stimulant, expectorant, digestive properties. Due to the presence of
aromatic delicate smell, and medicinal properties, it is being used as
spice in food stuffs and beverages.
