I also almost never use shampoo or conditioners, that tend to weaken my already thin delicate strands, causing hair loss. We have a filter on our shower, also a big plus.
There are public hot springs 90 minutes away, my favorite place to wash out hair and soak. It feels so good on the body, leaving hair silky and smooth, something I would recommend to anyone lucky enough to have hot springs near by.
I often wonder how anyone can enjoy bathing in treated city water. When possible, I would avoid it unless absolutely necessary, or when no filter is available. Chlorine can dry out hair, making it break easy.
Washing hair in filtered or unprocessed water tends to cleanse it without washing out essential oils and nutrients that keep hair healthy.
I also found out that hair turns gray or white when hydrogen peroxide builds up in the folicles / roots. There are glands preventing this that sometimes do not work as efficiently when one gets up in years. I'd have to look it up, but there is a nutrient in potatoes that can help remedy this situation, believe it or not. I tried this, by eating more potatoes, and it did help somewhat... I am now close to 59, and my hair is still not totally gray. I notice a favorable difference when eating lots of potatoes. When time permits, I'll find out what this nutrient is called.
Believe me when I say untreated living water is much preferable to "dead water" treated with poisons like flouride and chlorine.
