My grandmother suffered with clostridium difficile and had it recur a couple of times. She also was only responsive to Vancomycin, and they tried her on a different one initially.
Later, it was recommended that she ingest yogurt and such and was prescribed S. boulardii to prevent it from coming back.
I also helped take care of her and was in her and was a little concerned about getting it, but as long as you're not on proton pump inhibitor acid reducers and are healthy, you should be ok. Add probiotics (for both of you) and your chances or staying healthy should improve.
