Please add untreated Celiac Disease to the list of causes of spontaneous miscarriage. Women with untreated celiac disease have an 800 to 900% greater chance for spontaneous miscarriage, due to nutrient deficiencies resulting from chronic malabsorption of nutrients. Less than 5% of those with celiac disease (estimated to be 1 in 100) are diagnosed as physicians are uninformed when it comes to the disorder. The treatment is removing gluten (wheat, barley, rye and oats) from the diet and correcting nutrient deficiencies.
