Caritas Open House!

Friday, October 9

5 – 8 pm

Come join us and learn what Caritas is all about, meet other people in our community, and enjoy sumptuous food and live music!

Speaking of live music we are THRILLED to have Dexter Payne and Victor Mestas playing music for us at the Open House!


Dexter Payne & Victor Mestas have performed together in a variety of musical settings since 2013. Their repertoire together is broad, but with a primary focus on Brazil. Their recent CD "Pra VocĂȘ" received 4 stars in Downbeat Magazine.


Dexter Payne, twice a Downbeat Readers Poll finalist, also won 1st place in the International Blues Challenge (band division). He has performed in Paris and throughout Latin America and Brazil. He currently performs in Dexter Payne Quintet and with Azra, Sherefe, Marrakech Express, Lionel Young among others, and has recordings with Thiago de Mello, Rene Marie, Dr John, Judy Roderick to name a few. Victor Mestas Perez, was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. He has performed and arranged there for renowned bands there, including: Guaco & Trabuco Venezolano. He has also accompanied an array of singers in live concerts, including: Soledad Bravo, Cheo Feliciano, and Julio Iglesias 2010 Tour in Uruguay and Argentina, just to name a few. His professional background includes more than 80 recording productions for national and international renowned artists, including a 2010 Latin Grammy Award with Ilan, a Venezuelan songwriter. He was also designated spokesperson, and endorsement artist for YAMAHA musical products in Venezuela starting in 2001. In his short time in Boulder, Victor has been a guest lecturer at CU, and performs on the brazilian, jazz & latin-jazz scene, with Ginga, Nelson Rangell, Brad Upton, Sandra Wong, Dexter Payne, Azra and others.
