[AlternativeAnswers] Not using shampoo (was Andrea in NZ)

Perhaps this is what has made a difference for us as well? (Neither
myself nor my husband or children use shampoo anymore. In my husband
this has stopped his hair loss as well as reversed some of of his
greying hair... he has had grey hairs with brown roots coming in,
something neither of us expected.) We are in the country, and while
the water is filtered, it is untreated. My daughter, in the throes of
puberty, is having to use baking soda and cider vinegar to control the
oily build-up, but my son was much the same when he was going through
puberty, and his hair has settled down nicely now that he's done.

Hi - I make my own herbal shampoo and use that a couple of days a week. The
other days I use just water. I also felt a bit itchy in the scalp when I
first started doing this. I took this as a "healing" of my scalp from
constant use of chemical hair products. My hair has never been healthier and
I would not go back to store bought products at all. Blessings, Meo

[AlternativeAnswers] Re: Hair loss of 6 yr.old boy----strange

I found this, so guessing it's what you said he may possible have:

Alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition where a person's own antibodies attack hair follicles, can create patches of hair loss on the scalp and can affect eyebrows and other areas where hair grows.

And then I found this:

Common causes of alopecia in children include use of chemotherapy or radiation therapy, seborrheic dermatitis (known as cradle cap), follicular mucinosis, tinea capitis, and hypopituitarism. Tinea capitis may produce a kerion lesion—a boggy, raised, tender, and hairless lesion. Trichotillomania, a psychological disorder more common in children than adults, may produce patchy baldness with stubby hair growth due to habitual hair pulling. Other causes include progeria and congenital hair shaft defects such as trichorrhexis nodosa.

** I find it interesting it grows while on antibiotics. Sounds maybe autoimmune. I hate overuse of antibiotics, but has doctor tried a long-term low-dose of one during the year just to see if it makes a difference?

It was a stressful emotional time for the little guy but he is better. He eats healthy and drinks water or tea.Soda is not in the vocabulary ... He has lost all his hair and eyebrows yet has eyelashes.. During the summer time his hair starts to grow back with the heat but as soon as cold weather comes it's gone...He comes down with step throat and while on those antibiotics, his hair will start growing. Anyone have any Idea whats happening to the little guy. Tests have been run and possibly Apapolacia?spelling?but not positive.
