Re: [AlternativeAnswers] best herbal anti-spasmodic?

TCM is "Traditional Chinese Medicine." TCM style acupuncture is the
main version taught today. It is recognized by the World Health
Organization. There are also styles, such as "Five Element" style,
which is similar and is also based on the Chinese Classics.
I think it will help your son quite a bit. How old is he? There are a
number of herbal formulas that could be helpful for him.
Gui Pi Tang -This formula is for overthinking, overwork, racing
thoughts, insomnia.
Xiao Yao San -This formula is for depression or angst. It's awesome.
Jia Wi Xiao Yao San-This formula is for depression of angst, but with
heat symptoms, such as irritability, tinnitis, heartburn or gastric
reflux, headache, stuff like that.
An Shen Bu Xin Wan -This formula is great for anxiety.
Acupuncture is the very effective, though. It's always good to have
someone examine the patient in person, so they can make a proper pattern
diagnosis.
Also, a note on TCM formulas. The last word in each formula designates
what form the herbs are in. "Tang" means raw herbs. Sometimes they
grind them up and put them in capsules. Wan means teapills. San means
powder. So Xiao Yao San would generally refer to the powdered form,
"Free and Easy Wandering Powder." Xiao Yao Wan would be the same thing,
only in teapill format.

[AlternativeAnswers] Hear Sri Acharyaji Speak in Your City!

National Dharma Teaching Tour
Have Sri Acharyaji Speak in Your City

Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya is universally acclaimed as one of the world's most respected and qualified Dharma teachers, authors and Hindu spiritual leaders alive today. He personifies what it means to be a true and authentic spiritual teacher.

Sri Acharyaji is a very rare spiritual teacher who combines deep personal insight, and an ability to awaken profound spiritual realization in others, with an extensive academic background. Sri Acharyaji teaches the ancient philosophy of Sanatana Dharma in a way that is inviting to the modern mind.

He began his personal spiritual journey over 35 years ago. He coupled his decades of intense spiritual practice and study with advanced academic achievements, earning a Ph.D. in religious studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Sri Acharyaji occupies his full time teaching Dharma spirituality to diverse audiences. He has lectured on Dharma at dozens of top universities, such as Harvard, Columbia, Rutgers, Cornell, and Northwestern. He has also served as a consultant for such Fortune 500 companies as Ford Motor Corporation and Lucent Technology.

In addition to leading satsangs, seminars and lecturing on Sanatana Dharma widely, Sri Acharyaji is a renowned author, as well as a personal spiritual guide (guru) to a rapidly increasing following of enthusiastic students from both the Indian and the non-Indian communities. Sri Acharyaji was the Resident Acharya (Spiritual Preceptor) of the Hindu Temple of Nebraska (2007-2009), which
represents the first time in American history that a Hindu temple has ever made such an esteemed appointment. He is the Founder-President of the International Sanatana Dharma Society, a global movement dedicated to teaching Dharma in its most authentic form.

We are currently in the midst of organizing Sri Acharyaji's latest national speaking tour for the U.S., scheduled for October, 2011 - June, 2012. If you would like to arrange for Sri Acharyaji to lead a dynamic spiritual presentation (satsang) for your Hindu temple, Yoga center, university, company, conference, or spiritual organization, contact us today to schedule an event. Serious inquiries only please.

Re: [AlternativeAnswers] best herbal anti-spasmodic?

Quite right, I didn't realise that one would be preferred over another
for dealing with this. There is a Chinese acupuncturist that he does
recommend, so I will get that info from him. What is TCM theory?
SOrry, I am not very versed in acupuncture, though I know it has
worked for me for various things.

As an aside, I have a son with extreme anxiety and depression. He is
on conventional meds for them now, but doesn't want to be forever.
Will acupuncture help with this?

Thanks again for your input.

Kind regards
Andrea
