[AlternativeAnswers] Alternative Answers for Psoriasis

Good Morning!

Alternative Answers for Psoriasis

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that appears on the skin, usually in the form of thick, red, scaly patches. It occurs when the immune system sends out faulty signals that speed up the growth cycle of skin cells. Psoriasis is not contagious. It has been referred to as the same process that a wound heals. If you cut yourself, the skin heals by regenerating the top layers. When the wound is healed, the process stops but for psoriasis sufferers, once this process is triggered by any of a number of factors, skin cells are stimulated to continue growing. This usually doesn't stop unless the cycle is interrupted with treatment.

Psoriasis is divided into acute phase psoriasis vulgaris and reoccurring chronic psoriasis vulgaris. These are divided into five types of psoriasis: plaque, guttate, inverse, pustular and erythrodermic. The most common form, plaque psoriasis, appears as raised, red patches or lesions covered with a silvery white buildup of dead skin cells, called scales. Psoriasis can occur on any part of the body. Psoriasis is often associated with other serious conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity.

Aloe vera looks like a cactus with soft leaves. The fluid contained in the leaves has been used for centuries to treat burns and minor wounds. Today, aloe gel is used frequently as an ingredient in cosmetics, creams, ointments and suntan lotions. A study published in 1996 in Tropical Medicine and International Health found that aloe vera was very effective in the treatment of psoriasis. By the end of the 16-week study, a cream with aloe vera extract caused a significant clearing of psoriasis in 25 of 30 patients, compared to two out of 30 with the placebo. However, a study published in May 2005 in the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology found that the effect of commercial aloe vera gel on stable plaque psoriasis was modest and not much better than placebo.

Apple cider vinegar and many different types of vinegar (derived from dates, figs, etc.) have been used by many ancient cultures for medicinal purposes. Apple cider vinegar has been used throughout the years as a disinfectant or soothing agent. The Psoriasis Foundation hears from people who apply apple cider vinegar to their skin as a treatment for psoriasis. People add it to the bath, mix it with a moisturizer, soak fingernails and toenails in it, and apply it directly to the skin with cotton balls or pads.

Capsaicin, a natural ingredient found in cayenne peppers, has been shown in some studies to work on redness, scaling and itching of the skin. Researchers have shown that capsaicin interrupts the action of substance P, (a molecule which affects how the brain recognizes pain and itch sensations) at the nerve ending. In two separate studies with psoriasis patients, 0.025% capsaicin cream used topically was effective in decreasing scaling and redness. The main side effect was a short-lived burning sensation. Several studies indicate that topical capsaicin products can also help reduce joint pain associated with psoriatic arthritis. Capsaicin can cause a severe burning sensation if it comes in contact with the eyes, nasal passages or mucous membranes.

Emu oil is reported to be helpful for dermatitis suffers of all kinds, as this oil has a protective and softening effect on the skin. The exact mechanism by which emu oil works is not known.

Oats and oat extracts have been used for centuries as soothing topical agents. Oat plant derivatives have been used to manage dry, itchy skin conditions. Many bath products include colloidal oatmeal as the active ingredient. You can make your own oatmeal bath. Combine one cup oats, one quarter cup dried milk and two tablespoons apricot kernel oil. Pulverize the oats and dry milk in a food processor or blender. Gradually mix in the oil. Place the mixture in a cotton bag, sock or handkerchief and put in the tub while filling. To release the preparation, squeeze while soaking in the bath.

Aromatherapy can help with hives, eczema, dermatitis, bee stings inflammation, and dryness. Helpful, are Essential oils such as Chamomile, Cedarwood, Lavender, Geranium, Tea Tree, Lemon, Myrrh, Thyme.

Aromatherapy is extremely helpful with stress! Reducing stress, anxiety, boost immunity, and relieve numerous conditions all caused by stress. Stress reduction is one of aromatherapy's specialties! Helpful, are Essential oils such as Bergamot, Chamomile, Rose, Lavender, Clary Sage, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang will relax you. Where as Basil, Geranium, Rosemary... will recharge, revitalize and stimulate you. Rosemary and Geranium oils also strengthen the adrenal glands, which are effected by stress.

Dilute essential oils with a carrier oil or add a few drops to a moisturizing lotion and massage into the skin for sore muscle treatments or stress release. Use anytime, especially before bed for calming and inducing sleep. Add a few drops to boiling water and lean over it with a towel for a steam facial, or diffuse to help ease tension and stress. Diffuse for balancing and help with calming down. Inhale the essential oils deeply as they diffuse into the air.

Baths, diffuser blends, inhalants, massage oils as well as, skin treatments, hair treatments and body treatments all allow you to pamper yourself while improving the condition of your body, your mental state, as well as, your emotional/spiritual well-being.

Diet can greatly influence dermatological responsiveness or lack of it, as can exposure to potentially irritating substances and pollutants.

The skin MUST be fed! Our body needs essential minerals, vitamins and amino acids, fatty acids and water. If our body's do not receive them, we experience malnutrition. Malnutrition is the condition that occurs when your body does not get enough nutrients. Internally, our optimum health is determined by several mechanisms. These include our digestion, absorption, metabolism, and genetic makeup. These systems work in a complexed and synergistic process and since individuals differ in so many ways, including genetically, our optimal health is different for each individual. Discovering your OWN individual course of action and approach to healing is YOUR responsibility. It is up to you to learn what works best for you and what does not. Therefore, trial and error are very important when it comes to understanding what foods, nutrients and minerals are going to help you heal.

Water is essential in any healing process. 6-8 eight ounce glasses per day are recommended.

Excessive protein may irritate the immune system and keep it in a state of over reactivity. The protein in cow's milk, specifically, is a frequent offender, and for people with a genetic predisposition to skin disorders may be a hidden cause of problems. One general treatment strategy, therefore, is to follow a low-protein diet and try to eliminate milk and milk products.

Food allergies can play a major role during childhood. They are related before age 6. You can manipulate an infant's diet and do well in helping their skin. Eggs, orange juice, and milk have been implicated as aggravators in children. Parents should consult with their physicians about trying elimination diets. In general, these are foods that should not be eliminated. It is only after testing them out by, by first eliminating them and then re-introducing them back into the diet. Such diets seem to work best in infants less than 2 years old. After age 6, it is believed by experts that food plays a minimal role in most people.

For adults, diet manipulation should be undergone by each individual. If you think there's any food you eat that has an adverse effect on your body, avoid it and see what happens, If your problem clears up, you may have a food allergy. Other foods that have shown to aggravate eczema include corn, corn syrup, popcorn, corn meal and corn starch. This ingredient is found in hundreds of processed food products.
Alcohol appears to be a risk factor for psoriasis in men but not women. It would therefore be prudent for men with psoriasis to drink moderately, if at all.

Some evidence suggests that people with psoriasis may improve on a hypoallergenic diet. Eliminating gluten (found in wheat, oats, rye, and barley) improved psoriasis for some people.

A nutritionist can help individuals with psoriasis determine whether gluten or other foods are contributing to their skin condition.

Are you ready to try eliminating foods? Try Andrew's Allergy Elimination Diet

Fish oil has shown to reduced the severity of psoriasis. One study showed that applying a preparation containing 10% fish oil directly to psoriatic lesions twice daily resulted in improvement after seven weeks. Supplementing with fish oil also may help prevent the increase in blood levels of triglycerides that occurs as a side effect of certain drugs used to treat psoriasis (e.g., Etretinate and Acitretin).

Vitamin D for men and Vitamin D for women that is present in food, supplements or manufactured by sunlight is converted in the body into a powerful hormone-like molecule called 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D. That compound and a related naturally occurring molecule (1 alpha-hydroxyvitamin D3) have been found to be helpful when given orally to people with psoriasis. Topical application of these compounds has worked well in some studies. These activated forms of vitamin D are believed to work by preventing the excessive proliferation of cells that occurs in the skin of people with psoriasis.

1. Eating a diet that focuses on fresh vegetables and fruits.

2. Eat whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds.

3. Avoiding drugs, excessive coffee and alcohol.

4. Taking a high potency multiple vitamin and also consider flax, fish or borage oil and mineral supplements.

5. Take nutritional/herbal supplements to promote and enhance skin health and function.

6. Fasting is one of the best ways to increase elimination of wastes and enhance the healing process of the body and skin.

Juice Therapy is an excellent way to get your fruits and vegetable fresh and in their natural form. Blending fruits and/or vegetables into a great juice creation or smoothie can be an excellent snack or meal replacement. Consider Andrew's great juice and smoothie recipes for skin disorders!

What You Should Avoid or Limit:

Limit foods that have little or no fiber such as ice cream, cheese, meat, snacks like chips and pizza, and processed foods such as instant mashed potatoes or already-prepared frozen dinners. Too much white flour and refined sugar, two major constipation causers, means you need more fiber.

What you don't eat may be even more important than what you do eat. Avoid alcohol, caffeine and sugar, because they tend to worsen skin issues. If you can't avoid them, then at least cut down.

Limit Caffeine: Caffeine is something many people in America and Europe are used to having in their daily lives. Many studies have shown that this addictive stimulant can help produce symptoms of anxiety, insomnia and jitters. Caffeine is found in coffee, tea, chocolate, many sodas and even certain medications. Always ask your doctor about a medication containing caffeine before using it. Also, ask the doctor if there is an alternative medication if your medicine contains caffeine. Based on the current research I have found on caffeine shows that 24 ounces a day is beneficial.

Reduce Processed and Refined Foods:

Processed food can rob your food of nutrients and vitamins that your body needs to fight off stress and promote good health. Try to buy whole foods, unprocessed foods and try and stay away from "instant" foods, preservatives, artificial flavors, saturated fat and MSG.

Reduce Sugar Intake:

Too much sugar can rob our body of essential nutrients. Consider replacing sugar with Stevia the natural sweetener from the Stevia plant. Artificial sweetener can also cause anxiety as well as other health concerns.

Reduce Alcohol Intake:

In small amounts, alcohol can be good for your heart but too much alcohol is not a good thing for your body and too large of an intake increases your body's need for extra vitamins. The body has a harder time using oxygen. As a result, you can become more sensitive to stress, which in turn can aggravate your skin.

Homeopathy is a medical system uses infinitesimal doses of natural substances to stimulate a person's immune system and body's natural defenses. Homeopathic remedies are named for the plant or animal ingredients they are made from. Homeopathy not only offers relief from temporary disorders but, can provide long term healing of a person due to its individual and "holistic" approach. This often leads to a complete recovery from the dis-ease, as well as, providing an improved understanding of the patient's situation. This type of healing makes it easier and possible to avoid recurrence or relapses in the future and homeopathy stimulates the body's natural defense system by re-establishing normal immune system and cell functioning.

Psoriasis remedies include:

Arsenicum album people likely to respond to this remedy usually are anxious, restless, and compulsively neat and orderly. They are often deeply chilly, experience burning pains with many physical complaints, and become exhausted easily. The skin is dry and scaly and may tend to get infected. Scratching can make the itching worse, and applying heat brings relief.

Calcarea carbonica is suited to people who are easily fatigued by exertion, sluggish physically, chilly with clammy hands and feet, and often overweight. Skin problems tend to be worse in winter. Typically solid and responsible, these people can be overwhelmed by too much work and stress. Anxiety, claustrophobia, and fear of heights are common. Cravings for sweets and eggs are often also seen when Calcarea is needed.

Graphites people needing this remedy often have a long-term history of skin disorders. The skin looks tough or leathery skin with cracks and soreness. Itching is often worse from getting warm, and the person may scratch the irritated places till they bleed. Trouble concentrating, especially in the morning, is also often seen when this remedy is needed.

[AlternativeAnswers] 5 Ways To Spark Your Creativity

Good Morning!

5 Ways To Spark Your Creativity

Creativity is the madness of life.  It is the process that dreams are built on and made into reality by our conscious actions. When the energy feels blocked or we can't seem to find that creative spark, try these methods for generating "that free flowing mind".

1. Carry a notebook: around with you to jot down a thought or phrase that comes to mind. Creativity can happen at any time. So when the moment strikes, you have the opportunity to record the thought or creative genius.

2. Brainstorming: is a great technique used in generating creative ideas. Very effective when done in small groups, it's a stimulating way to get fresh ideas from different minds. If you don't have a group of people to work with, try it yourself. Start by writing down a topic or goal. Associating words in a brainstorm session, can open up a whole new path. This method takes a list of words and then builds an association between other key words on the list. Once an original word has been chosen, the next person (or yourself) will find a word associated with it. "What healing product is needed in our spa?" "Which technique should we market for the holidays?" This is the foundation from which yourself or your group can start building ideas upon. With one suggestion, start building on top of that.

3.  Take Everything One Day At A Time: Sometimes situations can become overwhelming when looking at the big picture. Again, take your quiet time to observe the moment. Do some soul searching. Allow yourself to take all the time, take the space that you need to grasp your creative genius. Trust the Universe. It is within you!

4. Wander: Take a trip. Walk around the block, through your neighborhood or through a park. Head to the sea, the hills or a mountain trail. There is a concept (and herbal formula) in Chinese culture referred to as the Free and Easy Wanderer. Walking or simply wandering often allows us to clear our head and free our minds. This allows for the free flow of movement, vital energy or Qi and is extremely therapeutic.

5. Get Wet: Studies show that some of our best ideas happen when we are in the shower. Meditate with the pulsating water. Formulate a concept or idea and imagine where it can go from that seed. Like planting a tree and following its branches to their ends. Water is a great cleanser and purifier and that "washing away" or "letting go" of pretenses, helps us to take a "thinking" risk or feel as though we are ready to start fresh!

[AlternativeAnswers] Treating Unexplained Infertility

Good Morning!

Treating Unexplained Infertility

Unexplained infertility is a Western diagnosis which indicates the doctor cannot find any medical explanation for why there are fertility issues. When the issues listed above due not seem to exist, a diagnosis of unexplained infertility will often have a laboratory panel which shows hormonal level "within the normal range". Even though no medical explanation can be found, conception does not seem to occur. This does not mean that there is not a problem.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is the best way to treat this diagnosis. TCM gynecology looks at the subtle changes in the hormonal system based on signs and symptoms the body gives off as clues. The menstrual flow and menstrual cycle are the first areas that can revel a cause. If implantation appears to be the problem, then it is important to look at the menstrual blood and the consistency, color, and amount.

The main issue in TCM is stress! Stress is a fertility killer. When there is an issue of unexplained fertility, it is a good idea to look at your lifestyle. These problems can complicate fertility:

1. Balance Your Day: set boundaries with work, family, friends, exercise. To much of ANYTHING is not a good thing. Although we are constantly reminded that MODERATION is the key, we seldom recognize it in ourselves. Plan your day out on paper. Divide your time evenly and stick to it.

2. Improve How You Work: work smart. Do not allow the "fires you put out" each day to become uncontrollable. Allow a certain amount of time for these issues as well as new projects, clients or meetings.

3. Get Exercise: If you are saying, how can I exercise, when I have so much to do, this is all the more reason why you need to jump start your metabolism. Exercise is what your body instinctively wants to do especially under stress: fight or flight, and it works. It burns off some of the stress chemicals which tension produces. Therefore, a tired muscle is a relaxed muscle. Regular exercise builds stamina that can help anyone battle stress. But even something as casual as a walk around the block can help you burn off some of the tension that you carrying around as well as, increase blood circulation.

4. Take A Look At Food: Carbohydrates provide glucose for energy. Excessive carbohydrates can increase blood sugar levels to dangerous levels, which then makes your body shut down to protect itself. Protein is important because it allows the brain to synthesis the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine, which help keep your mind attentive and alert. Excessive protein levels make the organs of digestion work much harder to process this food and robs your energy stores. Find the balance for YOU. Listen to your body! It will tell you what makes you feel good and what does not. Especially in the long term. If you have issues with excess heat, look at eating foods that have a cooling nature. If you have excess cold, look at eating foods that have a warming nature. Neutral foods help to regulate our system.

5. Prepare for Better Sleep: Overthinking is a culprit that will rob you of great energizing and restorative sleep. Turn off that mind by starting to wind down early. Give yourself "quiet time". Utilize the power of peaceful music, a good book, diffusing essential oils, warm milk or tea before you lay down.

6. Manage Your Best Energy Times: Take advantage of your natural energy highs. Do your most strenuous work, thinking, planning, exercise when you have your greatest energy. Note the time of day when you feel your best and when you feel your worse. Expand your energy where it is most needed, pull back where you feel you can.

7. Keep Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids, especially on hot, dry, windy days. If you're doing strenuous exercise, drink some fluids before the activity begins. You should also drink at regular intervals (every 20 minutes or so) during your activity and after the activity ends.

8. Boost Your Hormones: Reduce sedentary behaviors such as watching television and using computers. Being in one place for long periods actually slows metabolism and energy production. Proper nutrition is crucial for hormone balance. Essential fatty acids and nutrients such as vitamin A, B6, zinc, magnesium, and antioxidants are key factors to hormonal balance and therefore fertility. Suppelements are essential for any woman trying to get pregnant. Include a high quality pre-natal vitamin. (If anemia tends to be an issue for you, be sure there is iron in this pre-natal). Pre-natal should also have 800-1,000 mcg of Folic Acid. DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is a natural hormone that the female body converts into androgens, mainly testosterone. Even though androgens are male hormones, they're present in both sexes and are essential in the female body for the production and development of healthy eggs. Fish oil is a natural hormone balancer. Be sure there is a EPA/DHA ratio as close to 1,000 mg as possible.

9. Learn To Do Nothing: Our urge to drive ourselves to greater accomplishments, creates other issues such as exhaustion. Create/allow a few hours in your week to simply relax and do nothing. If you cannot find a few hours, it is time to rethink your priorities and commitments.

10. View Your Lifestyle: If illness is not the cause of your fertility, then it is a lifestyle issue. Are you creating unnecessary stress for yourself? Are there ongoing problems in your life that may be causing prolonged anxiety or depression? Consider counseling or talking about your issues with family, career personal or your doctor. Find the issues that are taking you away from a vital, fertile life!

11. Use the Power of Positive Thinking: Trying to get pregnant can often put a major strain on your relationship with your partner. Sometimes couples feel too tired and stressed to have intercourse or it feels to mechanical due to the pressures of trying to conceive. Keeping a positive attitude is imperative to getting pregnant because it improves your overall mental health; studies have found that positive thinking decreases levels of stress and the risk of depression, which in turn led to increased odds of getting pregnant. Many women feel "hopeless", "damaged" and "inadequate". These mental processes will decrease your chances of getting pregnant. Address the emotional component.

12. Improve Your Chances: Your chances of getting pregnant each month greatly depend on your menstrual cycle and even more so, on ovulation. That is why timing intercourse is an excellent way to improve your fertility chances. In my practice, I have women begin a basal body temperature (BBT) chart. This charting is a great way of seeing and understanding your menstrual cycle, ovulation and period. Get started on your BBT chart now and learn better ways to predict your ovulation time.

[AlternativeAnswers] Exercises for Plantar Fasciitis

Good Morning!

Exercises for Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thin layer of tough tissue supporting the arch of the foot. This may cause the heel to hurt, feel hot or swell. Microscopic tears, which occur repeatedly to the plantar fascia cause pain. Sometimes plantar fasciitis is called "heel spurs", but this is not always accurate, since bony growths on the heel may or may not be a factor.

Plantar Fasciitis is often recognized when there is heel pain that is present on first putting weight on your feet. This pain usually gets better with movement but returns again when you sit or lie down for even a few minutes.

At night, apply herbal ice (san huang san) to the bottom, side, heel and achilles tendon and wrap with gauze and wrap with an ace bandage.

In the morning, unwrap and wash area clean. Soak your foot for 15 minutes in tendon soak. Dry. Apply tendon lotion and then apply wu yang pain relieving plaster. Then put on your stockings, or socks for the day.

At the end of the day, unwrap and wash area clean. Soak your foot for 15 minutes in tendon soak, again. Dry.

Homeopathic Rhus Tox 30c taken twice a day can help relieve pain.

Wear only shoes with good arch support. Have orthotics for ALL your shoes.

Try to avoid going barefoot during the healing process.

While you are healing, avoid, cold, raw foods, iced drinks, sour foods and shellfish.

Lose weight. Added weight adds extra pressure per square inch to the surface of the feet. Stretching the plantar surface of the feet are imperative for the healing process.

These exercises are for stretching and strengthening the muscles of the foot and ankle.

Before you start these exercises:

Do a warm-up. Warm tissues are more flexible than cold tissues and are less likely to be injured. If you are participating in sports, it is very important to warm up and do stretching exercises before your sport. Warming up and stretching will increase the flexibility in your plantar fascia and decrease the chance of injury and inflammation.

Stretching exercises before getting out of bed:

Many people with plantar fasciitis have intense heel pain in the morning, when taking the first steps after getting out of bed. Stretching or massaging the plantar fascia before getting up can often reduce heel pain when rising. Other steps that can help reduce heel pain when taking the first steps after getting out of bed include:

Wearing a night splint while you sleep. Night splints hold the ankle and foot in a position that keeps the Achilles tendon and plantar fascia slightly stretched. Massaging the bottom of your foot across the width of the plantar fascia before getting out of bed.

1. Stretch your foot by flexing it up and down 10 times before standing. Use a towel to stretch the bottom of your foot. Stretching and strengthening exercises will help reduce plantar fasciitis each day.

2. Stretching exercises should create a pulling feeling, but not pain. Stretching exercises include: Use a rolling pin or tennis ball. While standing, roll the rolling pin or ball with the arch of your foot.

3. Use a towel (towel stretch). Place the rolled towel under the center of your foot, holding the towel at both ends, and gently push your foot into the towel.

4. Calf stretches. To stretch the Achilles tendon, lean forward against a wall, keep one leg with the knee straight and heel on the ground while bending the knee in the other leg. Hold this position for 10 seconds, and try to do this stretch 3 to 6 times a day.

5. Combination plantar fascia/calf stretch. Stand on a step with the front part of your feet, keeping your heels free. While holding onto the rail, slowly lower your heels. Hold this stretch for 10 seconds, then bring your heels back to a level position. Repeat this stretch 10 times.

Strengthening exercises include:

6.Towel curls. While sitting, place your foot on a towel on the floor and scrunch the towel toward you with your toes.

7. Marble pick-ups. Put marbles on the floor next to a cup. Using your toes, try to lift the marbles up from the floor and put them in the cup.

Exercises to avoid

Some exercises may aggravate your heel pain. One example is exercise that involves pounding of the foot against a hard surface and repeated motions, such as running or jogging. This type of exercise should be avoided to rest the plantar fascia.

You may want to take a pain reliever such as a nonsteroidal anti- inflammatory drug (NSAID), such as aspirin or ibuprofen, to relieve inflammation and pain. Some people take NSAIDs at least 30 minutes before they exercise to relieve pain and allow them to participate and enjoy the exercise. Other people take NSAIDs after they exercise. After exercising, ice your heel for about 20 minutes to help relieve pain and inflammation. You can easily become dependent on NSAIDS. Be careful. Bleeding gums, ulcers or any other kind of excess bleeding could be a sign of too much NSAIDs intake.

These suggestions have worked for me and my patients. You must be diligent about this as well as losing weight if your overweight. It will make all the difference in the world.

[AlternativeAnswers] Principles of Good Health

Good Morning!

Principles of Natural Health

The premise of the natural health movement is that a person with a healthy, fully functional immune system is able to withstand any viral attack, irregardless of how virulent that virus may be. It is only when a person's immune system is compromised through toxic poisoning, injury, lack of water or nutrition that virulent virus strains are able to overpower the body.

The U.S. Surgeon General's Report on Nutrition and Health (2007) says that half of all deaths in the U.S. can be attributed to poor eating habits. This includes eating foods which contain toxic elements, and/or foods with little or no nutritional value.

The key to personal health lies with each of us individually. Modern science and government programs play a legitimate role in society. But until we stop our dependence on government and health authorities to protect us against disease out-breaks and take personal responsibility for our own health, plagues and health disasters will always be a threat.

Following a preventative regime of good, nutritional food, exercise, stress management, vitamins, and a positive, strong, centered belief system can protect and shield your family better than any known preventative medical modality. But only you can make that decision. The question is not whether or not this regime works, but rather...when will you make a commitment to them.

1.Physical Health: Our physical health occurs in a combination of mental, emotional, and spiritual health. While there is no guarantee of a physical cure, what is ALWAYS available to us, is a sense of wholeness, affirming life, and living fully.

2.Art and Science: The science of healing is reaching out for the best that medical science has to offer. The art of healing is reached within, to mobilize our own internal resources for healing.
3.The Healing System: The body has its own natural ability to heal. In certain situations, surgery or drugs maybe life saving, but it is the internal healing system that allows ultimate life. When we fully accept and express all parts of ourselves (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body) the healing process is strengthened and the optimal healing can happen.

4. Activating the Healing System: It is our own participation in our own healing that fully accesses the healing system. This requires that we develop a passionate involvement with our life. That we find the meaning in illness and in health. Healing, in its essence, is an adventure in self discovery.

5. Achieving Optimal Health: This requires us to look beneath the surface at the lifestyles we choose, the belief systems and attitudes we hold, and the choices we make about our spirituality, our inner life, our relationships with self and others, and our sense of purpose and meaning in life.
