Lecture: A Spirituality for the 21st Century: Becoming Transformative Agents of Wholeness
Friday, October 28 7:00 - 9:00pm at
The First United Methodist Church
1421 Spruce St., Boulder, CO 80302
The Modern age developed knowledge but at the expense of wisdom. The result has been ecological disaster, destitution for the indigenous peoples everywhere, loneliness and a loss of meaning and shared values in our lives. Religions have too often promoted an exclusivism which has rent the human family apart and separated us from what unites us. We need a spirituality which brings wisdom back to our relationship with nature, to our work, to our educational systems, to "all our relations." One that speaks to the "aching hearts" of the younger generation.
Matthew Fox will explore how creation spirituality can help us move to hope by awakening us to our divine origins, to the new creation story from science, to eco-justice and gender justice, to the wisdom shared in faith traditions of East and West and of indigenous peoples everywhere. The awakening of the Divine Feminine and the Sacred Masculine can help to unleash creativity and sustainability. A new balance of Yin and Yang, Feminine and Masculine, is needed. In these ways we can be transformative agents of healing and wholeness in the 21st Century.

Workshop: The Mystics: Pioneers of Consciousness
Saturday, October 29 10:00am - 1:00pm at
The Caritas Center
5723 Arapahoe Ave., Boulder, CO 80303
Human consciousness needs to expand if we are to survive as a species. Carl Jung says that it is to the mystics that we owe what is best in humanity and that mystics bring creativity to religion itself. When an aging Albert Einstein was asked if he had any regrets, he replied, "I wish I had read more of the mystics earlier in my life."
In this workshop, Matthew Fox will share some teachings from Western mystics and prophets that can assist us to elicit the mystic and prophet in us all. Hildegard of Bingen, along with many other mystics will be featured. We will look into what Hildegard, Meister Eckhart, Thomas Merton and Thomas Aquinas can teach us about the mystical prophetic path to higher consciousness and becoming spiritual warriors. We will undergo practices together that awaken spirit in us and learn from those pioneers of consciousness, the mystic-prophets of the past and present.
Golden Circle Members are invited to an intimate lunch gathering with Matthew after Saturday's workshop (See membership page on CaritasCenter.org for details on membership levels).
